I’ve never been much of a cook. Oh, I can make a mean sandwich but cooking a meal is not in my gift mix! So it was a big deal for me to put a leg of lamb in the slow cooker for Easter Sunday. After three morning Easter services, my husband and I returned home and ate lamb with mint jelly before a very long nap. And my slow cooked leg of lamb was really good!
As we ate our lamb, I couldn’t help but remember my dear mother-in-law who loved lamb and cooked it often for her family. Though she’s been in heaven for 25 years now, eating lamb reminded me of her. But, more, eating lamb reminded me of the Lamb who died for us. In Revelation 5:11-14 we read of the compelling moment when those gathered around Jesus will sing, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
Who all will be there for this great moment of high worship? Who will sing to the Lamb? The question is answered in verse 13, “I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them.” This is an astounding revelation! You and I will be there singing to the Lamb! All those we have known and loved who knew and loved Jesus will be there singing to the Lamb! And don’t forget the children! Millions upon millions of children lost to
abortion will be there singing to the Lamb!
Our greatest “lamb moments” are not found around dinner tables here on this earth. They will be in heaven when we all gather around the Lamb and sing with one voice, “Worthy!”
